Terms of Use
Last updated: September 29, 2026
These Terms of Use govern your use of lopezed.com (the "Site"), a personal portfolio operated by LOPEZED LLC, the business of Eduardo Lopez ("I," "me," or "my"). You can reach me at eduardo@lopezed.com.
1. Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms and to my Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
The Site is intended for people 13 and older. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
2. Definitions
"Content" means everything published on the Site, including case studies, designs, prototypes, code samples, images, video, writing, and the Site's own design and source code.
"Portfolio Work" means the projects I display to show my experience, whether personal projects or work done for employers or clients.
"Submissions" means anything you send me through the Site, such as contact form messages, feedback, or attachments.
3. Purpose of the Site
The Site exists to showcase my work and experience as a design engineer and to let visitors contact me. Nothing on the Site is an offer to sell goods or services, and viewing it does not create an employment, client, or other business relationship between us.
Any work I agree to do for you will be covered by a separate written agreement signed by both of us. If that agreement conflicts with these Terms, the separate agreement controls.
4. Intellectual property
Unless noted otherwise, I own or license all Content on the Site, and it is protected by U.S. and international copyright, trademark, and other laws. All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved.
You may view the Site and share links to it for personal, non-commercial purposes, such as evaluating me for a role or project. Without my prior written permission, you may not:
Copy, reproduce, republish, sell, or distribute any Content, except for brief quotations with credit and a link back.
Present any Portfolio Work, or work derived from it, as your own or use it in your own portfolio.
Use Content to train, fine-tune, or benchmark machine learning or AI models.
Remove or alter any copyright, attribution, or other notice.
Open-source code. Where I publish code under a named open-source license (for example, in a linked repository), that license governs the code instead of this section.
5. Client and employer work
Some Portfolio Work was created for employers or clients who may own it. I display that work with permission or within the rights my agreements allow, and some details may be changed or left out to protect confidential information. Showing a project does not mean the client endorses me or this Site.
6. Third-party trademarks
Company names, logos, and product names on the Site belong to their respective owners. They appear only to identify the projects I worked on and do not imply any affiliation or endorsement.
7. Copyright complaints
If you believe something on the Site infringes your copyright, email eduardo@lopezed.com with: a description of the work, where it appears on the Site, your contact details, and a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized. I will review it and remove the material where appropriate.
8. Inquiries and submissions
You are welcome to contact me through the Site. Please do not send confidential or proprietary information unless we have first signed a non-disclosure agreement. Without one, I cannot treat a Submission as confidential.
If you send ideas, feedback, or suggestions, I may use them without any obligation to you. You keep ownership of anything you send, and you confirm you have the right to share it.
9. Acceptable use
When using the Site, you agree not to:
Break any applicable law or infringe anyone's rights.
Try to gain unauthorized access to the Site, its hosting, or related systems.
Introduce malware or interfere with the Site's operation or security.
Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download Content by automated means, other than standard search engine indexing.
Send spam, harassing, or abusive messages through the contact form.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The Site and its Content are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, I disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
Code samples, demos, and prototypes are for illustration only. They may be incomplete or out of date, and you use them at your own risk. I do not promise the Site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, I will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Site. My total liability for any claim relating to the Site will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US $100).
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under California law, including liability for fraud, willful injury, or gross negligence (see California Civil Code § 1668).
12. Indemnification
You agree to defend and hold me harmless from any claims, losses, or expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from your misuse of the Site or your violation of these Terms.
13. Privacy
My Privacy Policy explains what information the Site collects, such as contact form details and basic analytics, and how it is used. I do not sell your personal information.
14. Third-party links and services
The Site may link to or embed third-party services, such as GitHub, Figma, Dribbble, LinkedIn, or video hosts. I do not control those services and am not responsible for their content, availability, or privacy practices. Their own terms apply when you use them.
15. Changes to the Site and these Terms
I may change, suspend, or remove any part of the Site at any time without notice. I may also update these Terms; the "Last updated" date at the top will show when. Continuing to use the Site after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
16. Suspension of access
I may block or restrict anyone's access to the Site, without notice, if I reasonably believe they have violated these Terms. Sections 4 through 7 and 10 through 18 continue to apply after any suspension.
17. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute relating to the Site will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Fresno County, California, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
Before filing any claim, you agree to email me a description of the issue and allow 30 days to try to resolve it informally.
18. General
Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and me about the Site, apart from any separate signed agreement described in Section 3.
Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the rest will remain in effect.
No waiver. My failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of my right to enforce it later.
Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. I may assign them, for example to a business entity I form.
California notice. Under California Civil Code § 1789.3, California users may contact the Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services, California Department of Consumer Affairs, at 1625 North Market Blvd., Suite N 112, Sacramento, CA 95834, or by phone at (800) 952-5210.
